Position Description
Dominion Engineering, Inc. takes pride in delivering high-quality custom tooling and control systems to our customers in the nuclear power industry. The hardware services technician contributes to the assembly, testing, packing, and maintenance of our custom hardware systems as part of in-office laboratory work as well as installs, operates, and maintains the systems once deployed in nuclear power plants around the world.

Reports to: Director of Field Services – Products and Technology Division
Essential Functions

- Significant travel (worldwide) to install, operate, and demobilize equipment in commercial nuclear power plants, conforming to plant dress-out requirements, standard operating procedures, and industry norms.
- Troubleshoot equipment performance via remote or on-site methods, extrapolating solutions from a limited data set and coordinating/performing equipment repairs.
- Excellent communication abilities to convey logistics, describe and coordinate complex work activities, and perform training activities for a variety of customer archetypes.
- Support equipment assembly and testing activities at Dominion’s laboratory facility, including:
- Assembly of materials to design drawings;
- Set up for and execution of factory acceptance testing;
- Packing, boxing, and crating final shipments to customer sites according to packing lists.
- Maintain a tidy and well-organized laboratory workspace as well as an inventory of commonly used tools and supplies.
- Using a variety of hand tools, machines, and power tools safely and in accordance with regulations, as required.
- Observe all company and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use fine motor skills, employing good hand-eye coordination. The employee is regularly required to carry heavy tools, equipment, and materials, and may be required to stand for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to navigate industrial environments while wearing PPE, including climbing over and around obstacles, and up and down stairs or ladders. The employee must occasionally work at heights (up to approximately 30 feet above the floor) without experiencing vertigo and may be required to work in awkward positions, such as kneeling or bending for extended periods. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licenses
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating or maintaining industrial equipment in the nuclear, oil and gas, or similar industrial environment.
- Preferred: Forklift and/or heavy machinery operating experience.
